My Dark Is My Light

Asleep, I don’t see the rock in my path

Gravity has her way

Pulling me to my knees

Awake, I am humbled by the jolt

Falling on tender hearts

Bruising fragile souls

Asleep, I rise with innocence

Cursing the wild rock

Angry at the hard ground

Awake, the rock is not my enemy

The ground is the ground

Tentatively, I step into me.
